Western Legends Board Game Overview

- Howdy, partners. I'm your barkeep, James. At the Darkrock Saloon. Welcome to town. You look new here, so let me introduce you to some of the places you might be interested in checking out. There's a lot of opportunity here for you, in the Western Legends land.

Our two main cities, Red Falls and Darkrock, have a lot of different things that you can get yourself into, so be careful. Here in Darkrock, you'll find poker, a general store, and a bank. You'll need all of those in your adventures. You might find yourself over in Red Falls at the cabaret.

I'd be careful though, the Man in Black likes to make a visit there every so often. If you head down to Cliff Junction, that's a couple places you might want to check out like the mining. You might find yourself in Sunny Hills where you can do a little cattle wranglin'.

No matter what, you've gotta be careful and watch out for those bandits, they're everywhere and they're out to stick you up and take your cash. Real question is, are you here to help the Marshal, Or are you here to be mischievous? If you're mischievous, you'll find yourself over on the wanted track.

You better watch out, the Sheriff will be looking for you then. If you find yourself on the Marshal track, you're going to be doing some good deeds, helping out the people of the land. Good on you, that's what we like to see around here. If you head over to the Darkrock Saloon, that's where Doc Holliday likes to hang out and play a few cards.

You'd be a daisy if you do. There are a slew of characters. Stagecoach Mary Fields, Kit Carson, Jesse James, Wyatt Earp, Annie Oakley, Billy the Kid, Geronimo, Calamity Jane, Crazy Horse, Wild Bill Hickok, and Bass Reeves. Fantastic, all the different characters.

And each character all have-- come with their own goal cards which you can use to complete and then also draw legendary tokens, which are worth in-game points. Do you find yourself wantin' to do a little mining? Well, that's fine, come on over here to the mine at Cliff Junction.

You're gonna take the dice, give those a roll. If you're lucky like me there, you're gonna find yourself some gold nuggets. Gold nuggets can be turned in at the bank for money and extra points. Maybe you find yourself ready to move a little cattle across town, Or maybe you got a little beef with the other ranch in town and you wanna rustle a little cattle.

Either way, you're gonna pick up and deliver your cattle tokens, and you take them to the rail station to deliver, or you're gonna go over to the other ranch and do a little rustling. Are you in town to do some good deeds? That's great, the Sheriff would love to have your help.

Every time you do a good deed, you're gonna move yourself up the track and get that reward. At the end of the game, you also earn the points acquired on that row. Although if you're here to do a little mischief, just know that you're gonna rise up the wanted track and become more and more wanted throughout the game, which is gonna make you a target for the Sheriff and the other players.

So each turn, you'll earn victory points, depending on how wanted you are. Every time you complete one of the actions on the story cards, you'll drive the story of the game, taking it to the next level and hopefully unlocking the benefits that are on the back.

Let's head over to the general store, take a look at some of the things that you could spend your money on. Now these cards are going to give you specific upgrades, that help you move faster across the board, have advantages in poker games, have advantages in duels.

You've got weapons and mounts, and a miner's map, and whiskey. You can go in and get somebody drunk and mess up their next turn. Another cool thing in the game, you can upgrade some of your mounts and weapons to legendary status. Are you playing a two-player game? Watch out for the Man in Black, he has his deck of cards and he takes a turn after everyone else's.

He can really thwart your plans. In town for a little Texas Hold 'Em? No problem. Come on over to the Darkrock Saloon, we'd love to have ya, Doc Holliday's waitin'. The real versatile part of the game really comes down to the poker cards. They have the obvious poker suits and powers, but then they also have actions that you can use that allow you to do different things throughout the game.
