The Elder Scrolls 6 ● ForkMan's answer about Bethesda games and the TES 6 engine.

Today my video was commented on by one of Bethesda's rather inadequate YouTube haters. The author of this expression. Well, let's figure it out point by point, is Bethesda as terrible as these characters portray it. The statement begins immediately with insults, in which they call me a schizophrenic who is delusional. Delirium of a schizophrenic. What new and modern technologies do they introduce if they have the same problems from game to game? Apparently, this character did not watch my video at all, or he did not watch it very carefully, since in it I was only telling what the engine is, and not how Bethesda works with it, and how it modifies it, it was only about one thing that the engine is not a monolithic structure that cannot be changed, but that it is a set of different codes that are each responsible for its own area. And the fact that all modern engines for today are, to one degree or another, old developments, simply modified to meet modern standards. There was no question that Bethesda changed its engine beyond recognition, so which of us then turns out to be schizophrenic? And which of us is talking nonsense? Further down the list, this character lists the problems of the engine on which Bethesda builds its games. They say apparently long downloads in f4, the graphics are not growing in any way and the speed of movement tied to fps is not a problem of the engine! I want to answer this friend that to his surprise, these are not engine problems, the engine is not an engine in a car, consisting of hardware, this is code in the first place, but the code is a changing structure, and what Bethesds does not want to rewrite some elements, it is already a question of another plan, why exactly. I have guesses on this score, because knowing for yourself, you start to edit the code in one place, something will stop working in another. But in any case, it is possible to correct it there, just the labor and time costs are simply monstrous. And even if Bethesda writes its own engine from scratch, I am 90 percent sure that it will consist of old developments in the same way. Any coder will confirm this, that when writing any new module, everyone somehow uses their old working templates. Next comes heresy by the type - This is probably the players in their games do not play like that, uh, here are the bad players. It's just that the befezda has forgotten how to make high-quality games, or just before no one could have been better, but times have changed, and the gazebo could not change and considers it worthy to release shit like f4, blades and f76. They will not change without coordinated changes, the players want a similar level of QUALITY from the company, but the company has not been able to issue anything for almost 10 years. To call Fallout 4 shit, a game that was included in the list of the best games of 2015, which was bypassed only by the Witcher 3, who, by the way, at the output was all full of bugs, glitches and flaws, which were then corrected by patches. Well, in general, this is a different genre, and therefore it is not entirely correct to compare them, it is at least hypocritical, and here you can see an obvious bias and hatred of the company. Not an objective view. For some reason, everyone forgets to focus on the release date of Bethesda games, identifying their shortcomings these days. Oblivion was released already in 2006, and at that time it had no equal, in all aspects, and the game rightfully took the title of game of the year.

In 2011, Skyrim was released and which also rightfully took the title of game of the year, as well as generally entered the list of the best games in the last 20 years. You can see for yourself what games were released in those years. For example, 2003, when Morrowind came out, 2006, when Oblivion came out, 2011 when Skyrim saw the light of day and compare both the level of graphics and gaming capabilities of the games released in these years, not to mention the scale and size of projects. And it is precisely this scale and size of their projects that are mostly the stopping factor from rewriting the entire engine from scratch. Skyrim was released already in 2011, but people still find some new secrets, some new locations or objects, and they still play. And each has an individual passage, not like the others, but if you take the same Witcher, whom they like to set as an example, all the passage will be identical, with the exception of only the ending. This is not a stone in the garden of the Witcher fans, this is just an answer to such inadequacies who hang a veil of undisguised hatred and hate out of the blue projects that in their TIME overshadowed all the others with their release. Now, ten years later, why not look back in time and hate these games, comparing them by the standards of modern technology and modern games. Although most of them, even today in terms of scale and capabilities, are not even close to the same Morrowind that came out as early as 2003, when many haters were not even born yet.

Fallout 76 can only be regarded as a full-fledged project from Bethesda by a person who does not follow the industry at all, since long before the release of this game, Todd Howard repeatedly stated that they themselves did not know what would come of this experimental project, no one fully understood what they create, they themselves did not know what to expect from this game and what it will turn out to be. And it's no longer a secret that Fallout 76 is just a testing ground for new features for further studio projects. This is an intermediate project in which networking functions are simply rolled out. And the project itself is being developed by a subsidiary of the company, located in a completely different state. These are not the people who put their hand to the creation of previous projects. Therefore, taking him as an example and in comparison is at least strange. If Bethesda itself did not initially pin any hopes on this product. Calling it "a daring experiment". And at the end, the gazebo hater cites the game Outer Worlds as an example. In the same TES Blades, a game for mobile phones, the purpose of which is only to kill time on the way from work to home, the graphics are much better, you can compare yourself, I don't need to embellish anything. But the graphics are not the same, as I said, today in terms of scale and capabilities, few people can compete with games from Bethesda. Perhaps only some large MMO projects. And this is for today, in our time, not to mention the years when these games were released. I do not wear rose-colored glasses, I do not try to shield the company, there are claims to it, but they are not so large-scale as to wish the studio to close and simply offend those who gave millions of players great games that are still alive today.
