Cyberpunk 2077 News

In the latest Cyberpunk 2077 News, the first episode of the Night City Wire passed, and we were inundated with a cornucopia of interesting details on the game, including a trailer, gameplay and information on an upcoming cyberpunk anime. If you are not familiar with this content, its best to go and watch it on the official 2077 channel.

I do have additional gameplay of the three life path prologues on my channel if you want a look at that footage. There is also a couple of seconds of katana action. In terms of other updates, Senior Quest Designer, Philipp Weber implied that car customisation will not be available.

Currently there are no plans for pets, for narrative reasons. Prior to the events in 2077, there were pandemics, most notable of which involved birds; thus, animals are generally very limited in Night City. Only the elite can now afford a bespoke pet, although being able to pet a cat apparently is a big deal.

As covered previously, flying vehicles or AV’s are available in the game. While V uses these, you don’t actually control the AV yourself. The game will give you the option to reskill your character. Quite a few additional images and artwork were released, including a look at several updated character models.

Most notable are Evelyn Parker, the lady with blue hair, and a first look at Yorinobu Arasaka. In addition, we have the default models from the Nomad, Street Kid and Corporate Life Paths. Similar to the Witcher 3, CDPR have included several cameos in 2077, perhaps most notable of which is an American content creator, Jesse Cox, whose Mr Studd apparently explodes.

It was revealed that Waifu, Judy Alvarez, has a tattoo which says, “there was nothing to fear, nothing to doubt”, which apparently is a lyric from a Radiohead song titled Pyramid, featured on the album Amnesiac. Radiohead are a rock band from the UK.

Speaking of Judy, Pawel Sasko would not reveal any specifics, but insisted the romances in 2077 are on another level compared to the Witcher games, and they will not be easy. There was a reference to the Witcher silver sword, Aerondight on a car advert in the Night City Wire.

This Easter Egg was actually revealed back in 2019 via the cinematic trailer by Goodbye Kansas. In Witcher 3, Geralt receives the sword by completing the quest “There Can be only One”, and it’s one of the best swords in the game. During the Corporate prologue, V begins the game working for Arasaka.

In V’s office, you can search her desk and find a retro gaming magazine, which has Ciri from the Witcher Wild Hunt on the cover. While I think it’s certainly cool that such a reference is in the game, I’m not sure how I feel about being exposed to these sorts of details, because I think it diminishes the magic of discovering such things for myself in my own playthroughs.

Even meeting a character like Judy, which was absolutely cool, now one has to wait around five months for the next date so to speak. It’s painful. CDPR and their merchandise partners might start dropping far more information than is necessary, as an additional two Night City Wire episodes are planned.
