RTX 3080 ASUS TUF Gaming OC Review - BIG Gains Vs. Founders

Right here we have the zeus rtx 3080 hard gaming oc and ultimately I will recommend this card here in the founders edition for three reasons and we will get into the first of those right now where we have the temperatures and cooling on this card it's about 15 degrees cooler out of the box, this is one of the main reasons to get one of these cards, it's going to run pretty much the same noise I noticed the founders were very light Quieter but at 15 degrees C, that is a big cost for that little difference in noise and this ties into the second reason and these are our lower temperatures which now allow us to have sustainable overclocks and with the founders edition I did not recommend overclocking.

That because i was not comfortable with temperatures when i was overclocked and i feel like with the founders edition they put all this extra metal in the cooler which is not actually functional, its more for aesthetic purposes than the sturdy game the frame has slim on the front near the fans and then a slim backplate that adds to the aesthetics, so most of this card's weight is in the actual cooling design, making it a fantastic implementation for a difficult card play to the point where it looks more reminiscent of a fluted design of what was once a rugged gaming card when I started overclocking, grabbing that slider breaking the dial in memory, the memory then went to levels I've never seen before and that's more than 10 gigahertz, which essentially equates to 20 gigabits per second effective and then for the core clocks we got over 130 megahertz from the core, bringing this to a max of 2.1 gigahertz on all those cuda cores on this gpu and this led to big gains in gaming numbers and i will show you 4k numbers here today if you want to see 1080p and 1440p numbers refer to my founders review which i will put the link here but basically the founders and zeus rugged gaming oc card out of the box is they performed pretty much identically, they both increased to around 1980 megahertz, the silent mode was increasing to very similar levels and when I tested the silent mode in the shadow of the tomb raider, it spit out the exact same fps the other two cards did well at least in hard games in performance mode, so for t The rest of the benchmarks I left it in performance mode and then went to horizon zero dawn , this gave us a 10+ fps boost and then on mechwarrior 5 we saw a trend similar to shadow of the tomb raider that gave us a boost but not a huge boost and then eternal doom was giving us 176 fps average vs 166 and then after that we had the outer worlds that gave us the biggest increase in overclocking numbers in points for reference here today, going from less than 100 fps to 111 fps average and then to division 2 it gave us 74 against 78 average fps and lastly, modern warfare gave us a similar boost to what we saw with division 2, for what the overclocking numbers in my opinion make it really worth it if you're going to get the latest and greatest graphics card and run it at 4k 120fps, which if we saw in all those games this was the max setting, no longer you can max the dial and it's getting close to 120fps on a lot of these titles and you can lower it to high and some of the others that don't get 120fps, this card is capable of doing that and that's the biggest benefit alongside the hdmi 2.1 , however, one aspect denies tive of overclocking, of course, is the boost.

Power draw and we'll pull those numbers out here for you guys, we can see roughly a 40 watt increase over initial setup, but the total system power draw getting about 10 extra performance in gains is worth an extra 10 watts from the wall in my opinion and the founders were using a bit more than the hard game or c was because it was running a little hotter and basically the hotter the chips get the less efficient they get too, so with reason two out of the way, now we move to reason three and that's the reason input output with the founders card, you get three display ports and one hdmi 2.1 with the rugged gaming oc, you get three display ports and two hdmi 2.1, however, It also has a stainless steel inlet outlet protector and I really like this because especially if you live near the beach over time your cards can succumb to rust, especially in the inlet and outlet ports where I had to put a bit of multipurpose spray and give those ports a little tech, yeah I love where I'm inserting an hdmi cable like 20 or 30 times to get the port working again, this won't because it won't rust á and with all those raw numbers, it's time for a conclusion where I'll also talk about aesthetics.

And i will throw the dimensions of this card on the right p here on the screen for you guys but they have some rgb with the rugged gaming logo on the edge of the card, another benefit in my opinion is that it uses two 8 pin connectors in compared to the new school nvidia 12 pin connector i personally prefer the old school one because i dont have to run and take a new power supply but speaking of power supplies this is one of the most power hungry boards out there I've seen in the studio, so what that means is that you'll really want a good PSU, not just from the assault, but also from the thickness of the wires and making sure you're getting a PSU that is the gauge correct to deliver the correct amount of power to these cards because if you don't have the right amount of power then your card can do some silly things, it can crop, it can give you lower fps, the list goes on, but this card here works very good and if you are a player and you can get your hands on one of these, you are going to have happy days, but speaking of those happy days right now, the offer is extremely light half.

I made a video about pricing and offer and it looks like you are going to get one of these things by the end of October at the earliest because they are practically sold out everywhere but with that said and it is back in stock I can recommend this at 750 usd and in australia I think the price should be around AU $ 1250, that's at least what they told me it should be even though the initial launch prices were higher, however you are probably wondering what about the ray tracing and dlss numbers, i will just bring out the old numbers for you, where they were practically identical to the founders card, but one thing that I will say is that when I tried to overclock and then run ray tracing the games crashed.

Pretty fast, I couldn't get any solid ray tracing overclocked numbers for you if that means anything, so if you want to turn ray tracing on you probably just have to leave the settings as it is out of the box and activate dlss 2.0, which dlss 2.0 does a good job in the games I tried it on anyway to close.
