- Hey guys, B Boe here and today I'm taking a look at Gizmos, which is a new game published by CMON Games and it is amazing. We just finished playing. It's a little engine builder, so I'm just going to explain to you real quick what this game is all about.

So to start, this is what the box looks like. It's really adorable, and in the game is this tiny little energy dispenser. And during the game you're going to be taking marbles from the main dispenser, but you're also going to have ways to take marbles randomly from the top of the dispenser.

The way the game works is there are four different actions that you can take on your turn. You can file, pick, build, or research. When you file away a card, it's much like Splendor in that you can take a card and then nobody else can build it but you.

When you pick a marble you take it from the main dispenser. And it's important to note that because when you take certain cards from the dispenser with the different inventions that you're making, you'll then be able to see that this says if I pick a blue marble I can then take a random marble, and that is, of course, taking marbles from the top of that dispenser.

The third action you can take is build. And building is simply taking any card, either from your file, or from on the board, and putting it into play under its corresponding icon. So you can see here the files go under the file, the picks go under here, and the builds go under here.

Research allows you to take a number of cards off the top of one of these decks and pick from them. Now at the start of the game you may only pick three, which you can see right here. Little, oops, spy glass icon. And then the brown icon here is the number of things that you can file away, and this is the number of marbles that you can hold in your energy holder.

Now each card has a cost on it. As you can see, this costs three black marbles, this costs one red marble, and this costs three blues. They're also each worth a number of victory points, which is in this corner. Now there are also some cards in this game which say when X happens you can get victory points.

So this says if I build a blue or a yellow card, then I get a victory point, and I ended up with four victory points over here. At the end of the game I finished with 32 victory points and beat somebody by one, but this guy over here finished with, what, 46? - 46.

- 46 victory points, which was absolutely incredible. But you know, he's kind of cheating, working for the company, working on the game. - What can I do? I've played that game about 200 times. - Wow, 200 times. Yeah, so this is a really cool engine builder.

If you are thinking about getting games at Gen Con this is definitely one that you're going to want to pick up. It's a perfect little engine builder, and it reminds me a little bit of Roll for the Galaxy but more accessible. So you know I'm all about accessibility.
