GPD WIN Max Review-Will you buy?
What up you guys? It has been a long time since we made a GPD Win Max unboxing video in July. You may have forgotten it, I've done the unboxing and now I'm going to talk about the laptop. I'm not a pro but I am trying my best to give you a review about my using experiences after playing Win max with some time.
This is Panda, Mimi. Welcome back. GPD Win Max has an absolutely stunning 8-inch 1280x800 IPS screen. It's bigger than the 6-inch 1280x720 screen of GPD Win2. The size perfectly fits the resolution, I mean it has 189 pixels per inch, therefore it provides comfortable and vivid colors for your eyes.
Generally, a laptop with a 12.5-inch and 1920x1080 resolution, it has 175 pixels per inch. You may have noted the black bezels already, some people advise the manufacturer can add a camera on the bezel, I agree with that. What if I have an urgent videoconferencing? That is much convenient if a camera equipped.
In addition to running games, do not forget GPD Win Max is a mini notebook. The dual 3D analog sticks can be pressed down used as L3/R3 buttons, and the one on the right side can be used for the cursor you may need to switch the gamepad to mouse mode.
Instead of repeating the buttons that most reviews have already mentioned, I will focus on other functions that Win max has. First, I'd like to talk about the backlit keyboard. Playing games on the bed in dim light or when the light turns off, I can't make sure it helps a lot but it's better than nothing.
The key has a short key-travel, the keyboard is relatively small so I think it's difficult to typewrite if you have to deal with work. What else should you expect from the gaming laptop? Win max has 3 5000mAh Series Connection batteries, battery capacity is bigger than the 2 4900mah batteries of Win2, As a result, the battery occupies much more space.
I think it is the main reason to make the keys short-travel. The layout of the speakers is right, I mean, they won't be blocked by your hands when using. It's a considerate design. There are 9 spiracles on the top. Besides, two radiator fans are on the back, the thermal design power also called TDP has three modes to help get better performance, relatively, it will run out the battery soon.
The cooling fan runs very fast, you can imagine how loud the noise should be. The designer has thought of that. so there is a hotkey can let us switch it to the mute mode by clicking Fn and F keys at the same time, it's highly appreciated. The location of WASD gaming function keys is too confined to let me put the ring finger and pinky in, it's so weird and I do believe that my fingers will get cramping.
Of course, it's more comfortable for me to use the dual analog stick. Intel Core i5 1035G7 processor ensures Win max provides a smooth running speed, even though the CPU is not the best one in Ice Lake, but it's enough to play recent triple-A video games.
The display image on GTA5 is quite smooth as you can see. I'm trying to connect TV via the HDMI output interface, now we got the clear frames. GPD WIN MAX is one of a kind in the gaming laptop market. It has upgraded much no matter what the gorgeous display or a powerful battery.
But have we thought about the meaning of this gaming laptop exists? If you want a device can play some new games, the common laptop can do that. If you want a portable gaming device, there are lots of open-source handhelds for you to choose from. Is it worth buying, in other words, will you buy it? For most people, the price of $780 is not a small amount.
