Epic Games Offers $1 Million Bounty - IGN Now

Epic Games is offering a $1 million bounty if you can prove this. Epic games is giving anyone the chance to earn one million dollars if you can prove their app Houseparty is the victim of a paid smear campaign. Don't have any idea what a Houseparty is? Neither did we.

So here's a quick rundown. Houseparty is a social networking app with a focus on video chat. When you log on, you can see everyone on your friends list who's online and can enter into a group chat with them. You can also pop into other ongoing video chats.

When you're in a group chat, you can also play onscreen games like trivia and HeadsUp. It's a more fun alternative to the more professional Zoom. With much of the world under lockdown due to COVID-19, video chatting apps like Zoom and Houseparty have seen a major uptick in downloads.

According to mobile analytics site App Annie, Houseparty has seen around 2 million downloads a week in March, up from only about 130,000 a week in February. But the app isn't without its controversies. According to the BBC, the app exposes vulnerabilities to personal information through other apps like Netflix.

Some users have even reported being logged out of other services like banking apps while being logged into Houseparty. Epic Games, which purchased Houseparty back in June 2019 has denied these claims. After completing their own investigation, Epic said quote, We found no evidence to suggest a link between Houseparty and the compromises of other unrelated accounts.

So how does this lead to you getting one million dollars? Epic thinks they might be the victim of a coordinated paid smear campaign and they want someone to prove it. According to a tweet from the official Houseparty Twitter, quote, So if you're stuck at home avoiding COVID-19 like us here at IGN, you probably have a little time on your hands.

So why not try to earn one million dollars and track down those people who are responsible for this smear campaign against Houseparty. In completely unrelated news, Ubisoft has announced that anyone with a copy of Ghost Recon: Breakpoint can invite up to three friends to play co-op for free.
