90 Second Nerd Board Game Review: Realm of Sand.

90 Second Nerd Hi, I'm Jenny with 90 Second Nerd Today I'll be reviewing Realm of Sand by Deep Water Games.

My 90 seconds start now. Realm of Sand is a game for one to four players and takes about 30 minutes to play. You get your own player board with a limited play area in which to set your polyominoes. Reminiscent of Patchwork, you set up the polyominoes in an oval shape around the play area. During the game, players place rune tiles on their boards trying to mirror the image on one or more of the building cards. Once you've matched a pattern, you get to collect the building card and all the bonuses and points that come with it. Most cards give you elemental spirits which are these little discs that help you in arranging your pattern on your board. These elements are key in building the more valuable buildings and you get to keep them, unlike the rune tiles which are spent whenever you buy a building. I love the strategy in this game. I love that you move your runes around manipulating the board and the way that really maximizes their effectiveness. There's also an advanced mode for whenever you get familiar with the game and you want to punch it up a little bit. You activate the pocket watcher on your board and get a crystal marker with a special unique power that helps you place those runes. Gameplay ends when one player has collected 10 or more hourglasses, then you just count up those star points to see who's the victor. I really love spatial orientation games and I love polyominoes. One thing that's unique about this game is that while you're placing tiles, the tiles actually are individual so you can plan ahead to what you want to spend and what you want to leave behind for future builds. If you love polyominoes as much as I do, check out Realm of Sand. Well, my 90 seconds are up. I'm Jenny with 90 Second Nerd. Be sure to like and subscribe. We'll see you later. If you love polyominoes as much as this girl... that sounds weird, I'm not going to do that.
