What games will we play in the next 5 years?

Hi 👋 Today I just want to reflect on what games could come out on the next generation of consoles. So to speak, the games of the new generation. Although it would be a little wrong to call them the next generation games. But not the point, the new consoles are a new generation) and I decided that.

And in fact, we can now play games of the new generation, in my understanding these are games that are at least somewhat different from the genres we are used to, for example Death Stranding. He showed that many people enjoy wandering around practically empty locations and meditatively delivering goods.

Of course, from time to time you need to interrupt for shootouts or cutscenes, but mostly, you calmly deliver goods and establish a chiral network, and build infrastructure with thousands of other players. And it is the establishment of communication with the world, the construction of charging stations, protection from rain, bridges, roads and much more that makes the game different from everything that we have played before.

And this trick, where you can be helped or you can help someone and get gratitude for it, is very cool. It's a pity that few people understood this, but I really believe that over time, many games will switch to such a social interaction, instead of the trivial and honest, already boring multiplayer shootouts.

It is these games, with some new features, that I consider to be the games of the new generation. But it is clear that there will be few such projects so far, because I reviewed a bunch of trailers and re-read a bunch of articles to at least roughly understand what to expect from a gaming industry for the next 5 years.

So sit down more comfortably on your sofas, grab the cookies and let's get started. I don't really want to say that the entire industry is going through hard times now and that games are suffering from the fact that developers are trying to please absolutely all minorities.

And please! .. they can be gay or Asian, I don’t mind at all and I support the LGBT community, but it’s a huge stupidity to follow the lead of organizations like Bafta to admit you to their prize. I was especially struck by that list with a percentage the ratio of characters from different minorities and genders.

But in short everything, we will not talk about it anymore. Let's think about what games can come out and what we will play. After all, this is the most important thing, and I really hope that the gaming industry will break through and bright times will come, and we will play great games and will not even think about the fact that greedy publishers suck money out of us with the same games every year.

I really hope that soon we will be allowed to play the new Prince of Persia. And this will not be just an Action with a banal plot about revenge or I don't know, about the Prince's suffering. I think it could be a huge RPG-like open-world game, as Ubisoft is doing with the Assassin right now, only without constantly capturing points and pumping settlements.

All concentration should go to the plot. That is, I believe that it will be such a mixture of the Assassin with the Witcher, something similar to the Ghost of Tsushima. And of course, it would be cool if the developers can implement some kind of social part of the game, where, after the main plot, you can travel the world, talk with other players, trade with them, help build something or fight with other nations.

In my understanding, after the end of the story, you can give each player a choice how to behave further. We can have 6-10 endings and, accordingly, 6-10 countries for which we will play. We will be able to build trade relations, we will be able to pump the army and attack neighboring countries and much more, we will be able to build cities and create coalitions between countries.

The whole political multiplayer of Persia. It might be cool! And most importantly, do all this in multiplayer and do not touch the main story at all. It is clear, the point is that it will need to monetize or raise the price of such a game. It is a pity that recently there is no new information at all.

But the project didn’t seem to be closed, which means there is hope that it is still being developed, and if it’s been developing for so long, then the game should turn out to be big and interesting. Judging by the trailers, it should turn out The Witcher and Cyberpunk at maximum speed with a bunch of different planets between which you can travel.

I think it will be possible to do a lot of socialism there too, especially if we have a choice in creating our character. It is not yet clear exactly what the genre of the game will be, but it is definitely clear that we will be able to play as a team.

I think the game can be played in co-op with friends or alone with an NPC. Here you don't even have to wait for the end of the game and from the very beginning give the opportunity to live in one world, for example, hundreds of such small teams. You can give the opportunity to develop in different directions, create your own empires, or just become space robbers.

Yes, it can affect the plot, because in this case the players themselves will create it. But here's an idea for you. Let the players live as they want, let the robbers or seekers seek adventure, let the bounty hunters seek out criminals or just people.

Let the players create their empires on different planets. Let each team have their own local world where they play as they want. But sometimes a cataclysm can occur on the server, which will present everyone with a choice. Teams can unite, they can pay for help, they can volunteer to help solve this cataclysm.

Or they may just cash in on it or on its consequences. In short, complete freedom in the work of the game universe. But I understand that this should be a story-driven game and nothing like that will definitely be there. At most, some RPG elements. But I'll be happy to share ideas and we can make a really great, huge social game.

Who knows how to go to kickstarter there? 😋 I also believe there will be more interactive stories in the next generation. The same The Last of Us: Part II could feel good in this genre. Such games can be interesting not only for gamers, but also for fans of movies and TV series, which means that game studios will have the opportunity to attract a new audience.

And it will definitely work. Why? Because the interactive episode of Black Mirror - Bandersnatch seemed interesting to many. Not in terms of the plot, because it was weird and a little weak, but in terms of interaction with the story. People like to feel like a part of the story.

Of course Sony will continue to push their Playlink technology further. Only in this generation should they pay more attention to adult games. Although I didn't really like the Hidden Agenda, the very idea of the game, the very essence of the process was interesting.

You just need to refine the idea, maybe you need to give more budget for development and we can get great games for the company. While this genre is not very developed, but it has every chance of being shot in the coming years. Because it is already difficult to fill an audience with exclusive games, but you can still use non-standard gameplay.

Well, seriously, now there is practically no point in buying Playstation for something other than exclusives. They do not come out often, and even they may not be entirely of high quality and interesting. And if you buy a multiplatform, then it's better to take a PC or Boxing, there at least you can pay less for games, but on PC and Boxing there is no technology where you can sit with friends on the same couch, watch interactive movies and make decisions for the characters.

It's cool to get involved in the story itself. And without having to practice for hours to shoot accurately or dodge fast enemies, each gamer should get a game that will be interesting for him to play. And stereotypes should disappear that if you don't play hardcore in Dark Souls or Sekiro, then you are not a gamer.
