Baldur's Gate 3 News

In the latest Baldur’s Gate 3 News, Swen Vincke would reveal a cornucopia of interesting details in several interviews following the latest gameplay reveal. In an interview, with Gamespot, Swen revealed that there will be six classes for EA including Warlock, Wizard, Fighter and Ranger, as well as subclasses.

Given the importance of the dice rolls, Swen is confident that the replayability of BG3 will be tremendous. Larian Studios are very keen to get community feedback on their game. For instance, the initiative system has also ready been revamped and the narration system has been modified for present tense rather than past tense.

During the gameplay demo, on several occasions it was demonstrated that you can call upon the Tadpoles powers for additional dialogue options or other actions. Relying on such power too heavily will take you down a dark path, somewhat similar to the Bhaalspawn powers from the original games.

An Evil playstyle will have consequences but will also be rewarded. Alignment has been added to the character creation, which can influence narrative decisions and relationships. Rather than leave the party, as in previous games, if you annoy a companion sufficiently with your decisions, they might just attempt to kill you while sleeping or perform other sinister acts.

Camp followers will also be integral in shaping your experience, and they will interact with your companions. This will include animals and pets. Mercenaries which you can fully customise will also be an option, albeit they will not be as good in terms of the narrative.

In an interview with IGN, Swen stressed the importance of verticality in creating an interactive environment that will reward players for thinking creatively to dealing with challenges. The gameplay also showcased the light and dark system. In previous BG games, darkvision felt superficial, but races with the attribute do have a notable difference in BG3.

Everyone’s favourite Githyanki, Lae’zel featured quite prominently in the gameplay presentation, and during dialogue options, the cult of the Absolute was mentioned, it was revealed the leaders of the cult are called True Soul’s. Apparently, they also have Tadpoles in their heads.

We got a first look at a Spectator, a type of Beholderkin in the Underdark as well as some character interaction with Raphael. I am genuinely excited about Baldur’s Gate 3. I just love the positivity and enthusiasm that Larian Studios are bringing to proceedings, which is really refreshing in the gaming industry.
